With more than 30 years of experience with various forms of meditation and focusing exercises, Claudia Machado Cooke draws from a wide array of techniques. It has been said by some pundits that where meditation is concerned, that the individual who is desirous of reaching deep states of tranquility and mental focus stick with just one technique. This has been analogized to the man who set out to dig for water. He would dig several feet and then desist, and dig in another location, never achieving his objective. However, another analogy is offered here. Rather, you may begin to dig with your hands in one location. As you tire, you may take up a trowel. Even better, someone may offer a shovel. After a time, you may be given the use of mechanized earth-moving equipment. As long as you hold your ground and keep digging, you will reach the aquifer, nay springs of living water. The goal is one, the routes are many.

Acknowledgement is offered here to some of my many teachers.

Ms. Jean Gray, deceased; my secondary school drama teacher, who first introduced me to listening and focusing exercises. The understanding and interpretation of character portrayal rested on listening.

Dr. Rammurti S.Mishra, who introduced me to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, to breath awareness, and much more.

Dr. Robert Johnson, of New York City, who initiated me in the practice of hypnosis.
